I found the exposition a bit long before it really got going. But overall I liked it. Not as good as the original obviously but some fun moments. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously and it works in that regard. Unfortunately the plot is a bit too narrow to make it a good movie. There are just a few good ideas here and there lost in the middle of a lot of stuff that happens for nothing. Willem Dafoe and Catherine O’Hara are the scene stealers. You could say the stakes are never really high which makes the payoff pretty small once the movie is over but at the same time it’s refreshing to just have a dumb movie with dumb characters doing dumb things. There’s a touch of Tim Burton nostalgia but I was expecting more.
